Project Title: Women for a Healthy Environment

The aim of the project is to increase the level of awareness of preschool establishments’ teachers about green issues. The activities planned within the project frames are: Training on the topics: Women's Rights, Violence against Children, Children and a Clean Environment. There will be held 4 information meetings for parents, the topic of the meeting will be children's rights and how to provide children with information on the environment protection. A public campaign on Earth Day will be held in the area of ​​the Botanical Garden in the center of the city, in which will participate representatives of non-governmental organizations, local self-government representatives, teachers, parents and children. The organization will start advocating for the issue of planting kindergarten yards.

Project Title: Survey of the Needs of Women Living in Rustavi, near Large Eenterprises

Region: Kvemo Kartli, Rustavi

Project duration: 6 months

The aim of the project is to contribute to improvement of the living level / environment of women living in Rustavi. To achieve this goal, the organization aims to prepare a survey of the needs of women living in Rustavi, focusing on "green issues" - the needs of women, which intersect with environmental issues. Due to the specifics of Rustavi as a "production city", the study covers issues that show how large enterprises in their vicinity affect the lives of women; What specific damage do they undergo; What dangers they see; and what is the solution they offer to the self-government, the central government, as well as large enterprises.

 

3.Applicant: Kakheti Regional Committee of the National Network of Protection from Violence

Project Title: Introducing Sensitive Approaches towards Green Issues in the Population

Region: Kakheti, Gurjaani

Project duration: 6 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the society on green issues and to cooperate with local self-government in the field of environment protection. Within the framework of the project, are planned informational meetings with the representatives of 12 rural municipalities of Gurjaani Municipality and holding of trainings, regarding environment pollution and deforestation.

 

4. Applicant: Initiative Group "Strong Woman - Strong Society"

Project Title: New Initiative of Environment Protection of the Village of Zeghduleti, Gori Region

Region: Tbilisi

Project duration: 5 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

The aim of the project is to research and advocate for environmental safety problems of rural women in terms of gender; Raising the awareness of women and girls about environmental issues by providing information about their rights and responsibilities. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to establish a Sunday environmental club on the basis of the administration of the village of Zeghduleti, Gori Region, and to interact with the target audience within the framework of the activities of this club.

Project Title: Women and Civil Activism for the Environment Protection

The aim of the project is to protect the environment from pollution and promote the wise use of waste by raising awareness of the population. The objectives of the project are: to inform the population about the harmful consequences and fines of burning leaves collected in their homestead plots; Spreading information on composting mechanisms and the usefulness of the obtained organic fertilizer; Promoting youth activation for increasing civil responsibility.

6. Applicant: Kvemo Kartli organization "Ertoba"

Project Title: Empowerment of Rural Women in Bolnisi Municipality

Region: Kvemo Kartli, Bolnisi

Project duration: 6 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

In 2019, the organization “Ertoba” ("Unity") implemented the project "Empowerment of Eco-Migrant Women", within the frames of which 18 women living in the village of Disveli were trained, an excursion was organized in Misaktsieli to get acquainted with and introduce energy efficient devices in the "Rural Community Development Agency", recommendations for arranging a windbreak in the village were prepared. Women, living in several villages of Bolnisi Municipality have expressed a desire to have similar trainings and get acquainted with energy efficient technologies. Within the current project, was selected the village Ratevani and planned trainings, excursion to the office of the Rural Community Development Agency (RCDA) in Misaktsieli and purchasing of an energy-efficient stove for three socially vulnerable families in the Village of Disveli.

 

7. Applicant: Khashuri Municipality Library Association

Project Title: Women's Initiative Group for a Healthy Environment

Region: Khashuri

Project duration: 7 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

The aim of the project is to create a strong team of women who will work intensively on environmental issues in Khashuri Municipality. They will increase people’s awareness about environmental threats and create a better healthy environment. Activities planned within the project frames include trainings on the topics: Global and local environmental threats and civil responsibility and the role of a woman in these processes; The medical aspects of the ecological environment and their impact on women's health; Experience of countries with high ecological culture, success stories and state regulations to ensure an ecologically healthy environment; Research technologies, project writing techniques; Trainings in the direction of women's personal empowerment. In addition, within the framework of the project, a "green action" will be held in the so-called Zemo Seri forest of Khashuri, where due to the low ecological culture, the number of trees has been reduced (cut down) and seedlings of coniferous trees will be planted. To the event will be invited representatives of the local government, the City Council and the Bureau of Deputies.

 

8.Applicant: Women for the future of the country

Project title: Energy efficiency - A Better Way of Women’s Life

Region: Kharagauli

Project duration: 5 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

There are about 30 single mothers in Kharagauli municipality, 12 of them are status holders, 14 live in extreme poverty, who have to deal with life's difficulties in hard conditions. 9 of them are victims of violence. 10 out of 30 do not live in Kharagauli municipality, have moved to Tbilisi or abroad or already have adult children. The above numbers are presumable, they will be re-identified within the project frames and their habitat examined. The project aims to improve conditions for single mothers using energy-efficient technologies. Single mothers will be provided with energy-efficient stoves that burn 35% less firewood, the combustion process is long, provides heat overnight and a warm room until morning, as well as water heaters working with solar energy, providing the house with warm water even in cold weather. Periodically, the media will cover the stories of single mothers through activities and respecting anonymity.

 

9.Applicant: National Plant Protection Association

Project Title: Women for Reducing Chemical Toxicity in Greenhouses in Eastern Georgia

Region: Tbilisi

Project duration: 8 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

The project aims to reduce chemical toxicity in greenhouses - to protect vegetable crops and ornamental plants from plant pests by environmentally friendly means. Therefore, the following tasks are set - selection of model greenhouses in closed ground farms in Eastern Georgia; Development of a unified safe integrated plant protection management (IPM) system against pests. Within the framework of the project, rout surveys will be conducted in the greenhouse farms of Eastern Georgia, and stationary observations will be conducted in the village of Misaktsieli (Mtskheta Municipality). For research of various means of struggle against the identified target objects in the experiments will be involved biotechnical and new-generation bio-rational means and biopreparations. The possibility of complex protection against greenhouse pests will be created by developing the technology of using of safe means. This, in its turn, will reduce the toxic background in greenhouses and occupy an important place in the Unified Integrated Protection Management (IPM) system of vegetable cultures against pests.

The aim of the project is to introduce the intersection practice of environmental and gender issues in the process of planning and implementation of development projects in the public and private sectors. The objectives of the project are: 1. To raise the awareness of persons employed in the private and public sectors about the priority of the gender and environmental issues intersection; 2. To outline the participatory aspects of women during implementation of development projects; 3. Strengthen cooperation and partnership between the private and public sectors to ensure gender and environmental justice.  Planned activities in the frames of the project are: 1. Prepare a guide-book for training 2. Pilot a training module with the participation of target groups (in Bolnisi, Rustavi and Batumi). To the training will be invited the employees of local municipalities and the employees of a local nongovernmental organization (working on environmental and / or gender issues). 3. After the pilot training, in consequence of analysis of the feedback, expressed by the participants, the trainers will make the final version of the training and will realize it through sales and participation in tenders.

 

11. Applicant: Initiative group "Clean and Healthy Environment for Our Children"

Project Title: Women Against Chechma” (Outhouse) - A Clean and Healthy Environment for Our Children; Advocating for Bio and Other Household Waste Management in Villages

There are no wastewater treatment facilities in the region. Untreated domestic wastewater, incompletely treated wastewater from existing enterprises and medical facilities, as well as wastewater from landfills and agricultural lands, is discharged first into rivers and then into the Black Sea. This circumstance is alarming and poses a significant problem for the safety of the population and the environment, as well as in terms of socio-economic development. The aim of the project is to advocate in the Guria region to replace the so-called "Chechma" (outhouse) with septic, biologically clean toilets.

Project Title: Forest for Children – Brushwood for Stove

The aim of the project is to raise environmental awareness, spread and introduce information on proper management and use of waste. Reducing cutting out by making and spreading a fir kiln/oven. In the frames of the project is planned to: hold a seminar on waste management for women and young girls in the community of Samikao; Purchase of containers / compost making; Making T-shirts with the inscription: "Take care of nature"; Making booklets; Manufacture and installation of 5 pieces of fir stove.

The aims of the project are: to raise public awareness on environmental issues and to understand the global dangers caused by environmental pollution; activate the women of the region and involve them in the advocacy process of ongoing and planned measures to protect the environment and reduce air pollution.

14. Applicant: Women of Multinational Georgia

The goals of the projects are: to raise the awareness of women living in the village of Kazreti about women's rights and their protection mechanisms; to increase women's participation in the development of natural resource and environmental damage assessment standards; support the continuation of the work of the School of Public Eco Defenders; to involve the representatives of different sectors of society in the environmental/ecological movement; to establish constructive cooperation with local authorities for creating the necessary mechanisms to address the global environmental problem in the target region.

 

15.Applicant: Virago

Project Title: Beauty Requires Sacrifice

The chemical composition of cosmetics gets directly into the water system after rinsing from the face or body, causing pollution of ecosystems' natural environment for existing, habitat change, and even mutations in the genes of some underwater species. The aim of the project is to prepare multimedia materials on the above topics, thus raising public awareness. Tell her about the harm that cosmetics, self-care or hygiene products can do not only to their health but also to the environment and offer them more eco-friendly ways.

 

16.Applicant: Coalition of Women Initiative Groups for Development and Change

Project Title: Waste Sustainable Management Initiative. Popularization of the Composting Method and Implementation in Practice in Three Villages of Zugdidi Municipality

Region: Samegrelo

Project duration: 6 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

 

The aim of the project is to raise the awareness of the population of Didinedze, Orulu and Akhalsopeli communities about the principles of sustainable waste management, which are based on the so-called 3R Principle: Reduce, re-process, reuse. The project activities are: 1. Conducting trainings on sustainable waste management strategies; on compost as the best organic fertilizer that can be produced by the population individually at home and garden/ fruit farming; 2. Meetings - with local environmental organizations and specialists on waste selection methods for composting; 3. Arranging a field exhibition. The project will include joint inspections of homestead plots and orchards. Particular attention will be paid to the replacement of cellophane bags and plastic utensils with paper and cloth bags, glass-ware.

17. Applicant: Tea Abramishvili

Project Title: Raising Awareness of Women Farmers about Quarantine Pests and Their Impact on Human Health

Region: Gardabani, Village of Norio

Project duration: 6 months

Requested amount of money: 3000 Euros

The aim of the project is to raise the awareness of women farmers and housewives in Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions about the quarantine pests and their possible impact on human health, as well as their prevention methods, which will help protect health and the environment and improve the ecological situation in the region. In the first stage of the project implementation, the necessary inventory will be purchased; The following is a review of the latest literature and other information on the importance of quarantine and quarantine pests, based on which presentations will be prepared: "The importance of quarantine and quarantine pests"; "Legislative Regulations of Georgia on Quarantine and Quarantine Organisms"; "Quarantine harmful organisms dangerous to human health"; "Biosafety and biosecurity, rules and their use." At the next stage, women farmers and housewives operating in Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions (Gardabani, Marneuli, Sagarejo, Lagodekhi, Akhmeta) will be identified, the target groups will be selected; Meetings will be held with selected women farmers in the region's municipalities to become acquainted with trainings and prepared informations; The problems of women farmers and housewives related to these issues will be discussed and ways to solve the identified problems will be planned.
